Hailing from Trinidad, now based in East London, rising rapper Yorke releases his latest offering ‘Honey’ via Murchandise Music. Following his 2023 mixtape ‘Never In My Wildest Dreams’, new single ‘Honey’ (produced by Eyal Naor), is an energetic, lo-fi and unapologetically catchy number, featuring dreamlike chords melding with detuned and fuzzed out synth lines, propelled forwards by skippy 808’s. Providing a perfect backdrop for Yorke’s laid-back and witty lyrics to dance one, articulate the feeling of impatience, and waiting to see the fruits of your labour flourish.
On the track Yorke explains ‘ With this new project I intentionally focused on making music that was fun and replayable, whilst still keeping some of the emotionality that defines my music. That’s why the wordplay is clever and playful throughout the music, but if you really listen to what l’m saying, all the songs are about something in my life. Honey definitely typifies that balance, it’s a fun, boppy song with a memorable chorus thats all about creative frustration.
Accompanied by an incredible music video (directed by J. La Davis & shot by D.O.P Charlie Knight), ‘Honey’ is a lighthearted, charismatic and memorable track, full of good energy – this is a brilliant introduction in Yorke’ world, giving listeners a glimpse of what to expect from his larger forthcoming project.
