Yorke
Yorke is a Trinidadian producer/rapper, currently residing in East London, England. His influences span a wide array of genres and artists, including but not limited to Flying Lotus, Reggae, Kendrick Lamar and the folky calypso of his native Trinidad and Tobago. As such his music covers a lot of aesthetics and directions, ranging from slower, down tempo songs like “The Storm” and “mirrors”, to upbeat dancefloor fillers like “Chips” and “ratio”.
In July 2021 he released his debut EP “Peur Eternus” after working for almost 2 years on the project. With songs like “The Storm”, “Riot” and “Taylor”, Yorke showcased his versatility, presenting a well-rounded creative vision all across his first project.
Since his last tape, Yorke has released multiple songs including “mirrors”, reggae inspired track “210 breezy”, and “nimwd”. These singles all built up to the release of his first mixtape, “Never In My Wildest Dreams”, the result of another 2 years of work. This mixtape represents a massive step forward both creatively and commercially for Yorke, building upon years of features and guest production for other artists. With the progression between “Peur Eternus” and “Never In My Wildest Dreams”, a constant growth can be seen in the abilities of this young artist.
In the past couple of years Yorke has performed at a wide range of venues in London including Hootananny’s in Brixton, Folklore in Hoxton, Next Door Records in Shepherds Bush, the Mustache Bar in Dalston and at a pop up on Oxford Street. In terms of tech-spec, Yorke usually only requires DJ decks and a mic set up.
2024 looks to be another impactful year for Yorke, as he plans to drop multiple bodies of work, which first started with his single “Honey” produced by Eyal. The track is accompanied by an incredible music video (directed by J. La Davis & shot by D.O.P Charlie Knight), ‘Honey’ is a lighthearted, charismatic and memorable track, full of good energy – this is a brilliant introduction in Yorke’ world, giving listeners a glimpse of what to expect from his larger forthcoming project dropping in 2024.
