Technicolour “The Director’s Cut” (Tape)

Yorke closes out what many consider his most successful era with a four-track director’s cut, created as a tribute to both die-hard fans of film and his distinctive sound. “Terrence Howard” places listeners front row at the Oscars, packed with clever nods to cinema’s most iconic moments and backed by production that feels tailor made for an awards stage. “Let Me Know” offers a darker, more hard-hitting contrast, with vocal tension between Yorke and BUKKY amplifying the track’s intensity, while his verses land sharply over punchy drums. The remaining tracks, “Persona” and “Uncle Carlton”, lean into a more laid-back atmosphere, with stripped back production giving space for some of Yorke’s most reflective writing so far. “Technicolour” is Yorke’s most ambitious project to date; the artist describes the process of making the tape saying, “I wanted to make a project that reminded me of all of my favorite movies as a child”. Inspired by the technical process that made “The Wizard of Oz” the first colour film, “Technicolour” deeply resonates with Yorke’s love of film.

Yorke continues to cement his place in the UK underground rap scene, with previous singles such as “210 breezy”, “Seasons”, “A Trinidadian Werewolf In London”, “St. Clair”, and “Survival” earning support across international listeners, particularly in London and his native Trinidad & Tobago.
